By the by - Tara i enjoyed all the videos. Your dancing is hypnotizing - good stuff - you move so gracefully. I enjoyed the dancing a lot.

I love your indoor aviary! It really is great to seethe birds moving around. Much as i try to capture Laker with photos - it just isn't the same.

PS - did you guys know that our night-time weather reporter for the CBC is an Aussi? I nearly fell over laughing when i heard her one day - well really it seems funny to have an Aussi telling me the cold weather facts! She's obviously been razzed a bit - because she's quite fun with all the weather comments.

Thanks! I have been belly dancing for 25 years (jeez, that seems like forever)! I am of Middle Eastern heritage but I am adopted so I grew up typical Catholic middle class American family. I have always been a dancer, had my first ballet lesson at age 6, moved on to modern dance in my teens and then got back to my roots with belly dancing. I also do Cook Island hula dancing.

Do you do that kind of dancing like the Hawaiians do with those flaming whatchamacallit's that they spin around? That stuff looks DANGEROUS! But very cool.

Have you ever taught dancing? Or would you even want to?

Vicki, the fire dancing is Samoan but done at all Hawaiian luaus usually by Samoans who live in Hawaii. That's basically a man's dance traditionally but maybe some women do it now.

I was going to teach belly dance in my home as a specialist trainer to women who want to dance professionally overseas, but the insurance costs have skyrocketed and the potential income wouldn't cover the overheads. I don't have time to do weekly lessons at a YMCA or equivalent. I do teach special workshops on request if it is over a weekend but I haven't advertised in a couple years and the market over here is pretty saturated so not really worth it.
