I have a question for you - I saw you had those huts without the bottom, and perches instead... I'm not soo concerned about Valo, since he's a boy, but i'd love to get one of those for Ms. Bella... she loves her happy hut, and I'm a little worried about the time when the little girl grows up to be a birdie-lady and was thinking about getting her used to the perched-hut rather sooner than later.

Where did you get those?

me me pick me.
I've just ordered one for the quaker brats from Weldens on ebay. Looks like the normal happy huts but has a perch at the bottom instead of the solid bottom. Is that the one you mean?

Hi- I got mine at one of the bird shows. There is a semi-retired couple that does all the shows and she makes the huts and he does branches and toys. They travel the show circuit. I paid $10.00 for the boys and $7 for Ladybirds'.

It took the boys about 2 months to go in it but now they love it and will go in it during the day to have "quiet time" but they both sleep in it at night, facing each other. It took them awhile to figure that out also.

Ladybird figured it out much faster. I have it in the corner of the cage and she cannot turn around and get her tail in first so she has to face into it.. uknow what I mean, lol. She likes it a lot and goes there during the day when the boys are annoying her in the next cage.

Hey Gini, post some pics! I would love to see your fids in these huts. So you think they prefer to sleep standing on a perch in a hut rather than lying on a floor in a hut?

I won't get it until next week sometime, only ordered it a few days ago.
Dharma is in the regular type and it took her close on a month to work out to sleep in it not on it. She loves hers, it's her safe haven.

hmm, bella is blonde too.... she leaned against it for the longest time :giggle: before actually going into it....

tara - i heard that it can promote egg laying in females since it's so "nest-like"... that's why i wanted to get one without bottom, since the girlies supposingly do better in those

Here ya go, Tara! Ladybird is on top of the boy's cage but you can see their hut/tent behind the pink bell.

Yes, Tara, she absolutely does. When she is sleepy, she goes and faces into her hut and I can peek under the cover and she is there. In the am, If I lift the cover before she is up, she is still there! Same with the Charley and Cha-cha, the go in the hut at night, not always at the same time, but if I peek under the cover before I go to bed, they are both in there with tails sticking out on each side. They seldom go in there during the day but will occasionally, go in there to get away from it all.

OK, you are not going to believe this but, as if they read my mind today, all of them went in their huts during the day!!!! :excited: Fortunately, I keep the camera charging on the desk so I grabbed it and got Ladybird first then Charley! Ladybird then turned around and gave me a dirty look. When Chacha saw me taking a pic of Charley, he came over to protect his buddy from that flashing thing and gave me grief the whole time,:swearing: . Charley actually came closer:angel: ,lol. Some Days you get lucky.....
