Samm and Vega

I just noticed you both have Patagonian Conures! Considering that they are more unusual, I just though it's cool we have two of them in Uncaged! :woohoo:

There is no hope of finding one in Australia but I met Samm's Rainbow and he is a real sweetie! :heartbeat:

I didn't even know they existed until I found Harvey! I had to do some research before going to pick him up...to make sure I was ready to take on a conure. I always thought the suns were sooooo pretty.

I kinda stumbled upon Harvey. I was originally looking for a male vos ekkie, but the cost was a bit more than I could afford. I figured I woud do a re-home instead of going to a breeder. So, through BB, I was speaking with a woman about purchasing her male... until she refused to take him to the vet. He was 15 years old and hadn't been to the vet since he was 9. That's fine when he's the only fid and not exposed to any others...but already having Gypsy, and limited space for quarantine.... I wouldn't make the 5+ hour drive without some proof that he was medically ok. I even offered to pay half when it all came back clear! (to this day I wonder what happened to Gabe, the owner said she had a medical condition that prevented her from keeping him. Then I found that she had been on the LOV for over a year trying to re-home him!)

Anywho, when that fell through I was sooooo upset. Back to BB I went, and found Harvey. The rest is history!

I would buy a Patty in a heartbeat if I found one here for less than $500. Fat chance!!

I see a lot of the same qualities in the Nanday though-that sweet nature and liking to cuddle so I am happy!

LOL, I jsut saw there's a one for adoption at our local parrot rescue. If Harvey wasn't such a jealous thing I wouldn't think twice! But I think he'd have a complete fit if he had to share his mama with 1 more sibling!!

We stumbled upon Rainbow too. We were at the bird show here in Orlando, and happened to see the most beautiful pair of conures.....we asked what they were, and the man said Patagonian Conures, I have 2 babies here on 3 feeds a day, $150 each. So of course we took one. We walked around for 20 minutes or so....wondering hmmmmm....maybe we should go back and buy the other one too....well back we went and guess what....SOLD! I still kick myself for it. Last bird show we went to, the man who sold him to us was there, we happened to take Rainbow along.....he offered to buy him back from us, at twice what we paid for him....no way....
