I would have posted this on BB but I can't log in over there for some reason. So what I was wondering...
Is there any real difference between the two? I know Janday's are slightly larger and have more green feathers on their wings etc. But personality wise are they any different? Like cinnamon green checks, same bird just different colour right?
All you Sun conure and Janday owners let me know what you have to say. Same or different, better, worse, louder (lol)?
If you had to choose between the two which would you pick?

wrt to noise, i've heard that the suns are hard to beat in the conure group. however, we only have a sun, and she's actually not too bad wrt noise. i remember somebody getting 2 jendays over at BB, you might wanna try to contact him for more info on their behavior as soon as you can log back on.
other than that - suns, of course, are the best :D

I've got Dharma (sun) and the lorikeet beats her hands down for consistency and volume. I've also stolld in front of a pair of Jendays and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference in decibels. According to the ABK book on conures Jendays are calmer and less highly strung then suns. Here in Australia they are more expensive then suns.
Personally, I prefer my ditzy sun. I have looked at jendays, but the sun colours suck me in with the stunning yellow to the wings as they get older.

Never heard a Jenday, but my sun can drive you nuts in 30 seconds flat. She's a pistol, but such a loving bird that you just have to forgive her big mouth!

I don't know about the noise levels, but they are different species. Sorry, I don't remember the latin names right now, but Jendays are larger and closely related to Nandays, which have been separated out into their own monotypic genus. I believe the Jenday was retained in the genus Aratinga.

its not so much noise level, cause I know they are both LOUD lol. Mostly wondering about how their personalities differ.
Thanks everyone for your help, I am going to see if anyone on BB has both, see what they think

My Gold Capped (Nani) can make ears bleed!!!! I've heard several Suns and Jendays and My Nani had them all beat both in shrill and volume.
Here is an interesting article on Gold Capped, Jenday and Sun Conures.

That's OK!! I noticed right away the date of the thread because she hasn't been on in awhile and I lost her cell number.
We will forgive you if you post some more Nani pics! I want to see how similar she is to Yaxche.

Suns and Jandays are exactly the same size and weight groups. Hybrid they become a Sunday conure. Jandays generally have more red than orange and no yellow on the wings. They are both members of genus Aratinga which makes the voice particularly noticeable. The loving, clownish nature makes you forget all about the voice. Not all of them choose to use the voice continuously. They are excellent sentry birds.
