Saturday stared early here..

I had to be at a church for a funeral at 10 AM.... got up extra ealry so I could feed and water the flock and start getting ready..
Went to the funeral.. then the wake afterwards....got back at house exaused around 3 PM...

When I got home.. checked Shamrock and the three tiels.. gave everyone fresh food... KS mix with extra fresh veggies .. and layed down for a 2 hour nap..
After I got up.. pulled the KS mix..... gave everyone sprouts ..... and started making my rounds.. with individual time for each fid.... starting with the tiels..

Then got to Shamrock...
I wish someone had warned me about ringneck lovins...
I was able to get Shamrock to step up nicely Sat late afternoon and come out of the cage... and he went straight to my shoulder of course... ...

My long hair (hair is now just past wast when lose) was not in its usual tight braid but had a hair tie at about 4 inches below my shoulders ....
He immediantly went to preening the loose locks/strands... and then nusseled his head agains my cheek and started trilling.....

At first I freaked.. with that big beak that near my face.. but started to relax . when he very gently gave me kisses and then rubbed head against the side of my face again...
This went on for almost half an hour.. going between being preened and loved on .. by head rubbin.... with the occasional kiss thrown in..

When he had decided that was enough..... walked back down my arm.. fluttered to ground.. and then climbed back up into his cage....
And proceeded to get more groceries.. then beat up some more toys...

I then went to computer.. and started info searching on web about ringnecks again..
after about half an hour of this.. ran across a comment.. about ringnecks giving lovins by rubbing the top of thier head angainst human neck or cheek....

I wish that I had know this ahead of time.. I would have not been so afraid of Shamrock ealier ... with that beak near my face that can crack brazil nuts... if I had know this was a way a ringneck gave lovins...
But I still think I need my head examined for letting the same beak near face.. he could have also had copped a 'tude and about taken my nose off...
Old Man witness this.. and told me I was nuts.. and was worried about a bad bite and an ER trip..

End of a long day... and the biggest even with flock.. Me getting lovins from Shamrock .... :heartbeat:
Still slowly making progress with Snow Flake also.. will do update on tiels.. Sun or Mon.. with pics ..
camera mem card is full of pics from funeral and wake right now.. and have not DL yet...

Almost forgot to add.. Old Man AKA JB.. is starting to get along with Shamrock... since Shamrock does NOT care for men.. JB took this as a challenge..:mwahaha:
Especially since Shamrock makes burping and farting nioses in JB's face..:bootyshake: ... when JB goes to side of cage to talk to him..:toofunny: ... and would laugh and give rasberry and say "Good BOY" when JB would walk away from cage...:mwahaha:

JB asked if pistachios OK for Shamrock to have... told him yes if not salted or dyed... JB got hout his stash bag of pistachios..
I checked.. dry roasted.. no salt or dye... gave OK for Shamrock treats...

When I got up from nap... pile of nut shells in bottom of Shamrocks cage... .. and caught JB trying to give MORE...:pullhair: . one at a time....
Neither JB or Shamrock were happy when I stopped him from give more nuts..:swearing: .. told JB limit of 4-5 nuts per DAY... not hour...
But now Shamrock will allow JB to touch him.. or get near him.. without trying to take a LB of flesh from him...:woohoo:

That's great that Shamrock is starting to accept JB! I'd be a littel hesitant about that beak too if I didn't have any experience with them, but I'll bet you were in heaven getting rubbed & preened! :yahoo:

I think it may have had something to be with my hair being loose.. I had braided it last night before I want to bed.. so it would not tangle..
And this AM (Sun) Shamrock had a 'tude again with me.. until I took\l the braid out and put it back out of my way in loose tie again....

I fugure that his orginal owner might have worn glasses (becaure he has not even attempted to bother my glasses and still working on that one with the tiels ) .... and had long hair that she wore loose or with low tie.... because of his reaction to my hair.....

I am having the playstand delivered to my porch today.. and it will be THOURGHLY cleaned BEFORE comming into my house....

I am going to try and find out who the orginal owner was.. the elderly woman that died over a year ago....
I have lived in area for over 20 years now.. and may have known her or of her..
and can possibly get a better idea of Shamrock's age from any of her friends or family members....
and also hoping can see a couple of pics.. of how she kept his cage and the types of toys he had then....

I guess for us ringies owners it was assumed knowledge of their 'lovings' as all of my fids to that...well except my parrot but I don't allow that huge beak to get near my face like that yet.

Sounds like he's doing great! Got a friend for his life there so long as you keep up the trust

Nothing like birdie lovins to start th day off right! :love2: I can see why an Alex beak makes you nervous when you have been used to little Tiel beaks. I was a bit nervous with Ixchel too, but she is the sweetest loving little bird ever!
