In the past few days.. he has discovered they joy of chew his wood toys... :excited:

Daily having to clean cage bottom SEVERAL times.. looks like he has wood bedding in his cage...:thatsbad:

Are Alexandrine ringnecks part beaver???

The toys I bought him less than two weeks ago.. there are a few parts of wood pieces on them still.. :axe:

Have discovered today he has BROKEN one of the large marbella rings and cracked one of the marbella balls just slightly smaller than a golf ball..:mwahaha:

Gave him 4 oldfashion cloths pins and 6 popcycle sticks... to distract him.. while I took apart the toys and removed cracked and broken plastic/marbella pieces and restring...:seestars: ... into ONE toy..... :scream:

By the time I was done..:mindblowing: .. the clothspins and popcycle sticks were splintered history..... :freakout:

He has not paid much attention to the pinata.. but is concentrating on the wood..... :grumble:

I have teil size toys.. somewhat figured out.. but THIS..... :faint2:

Put together a toy out of pieces of wood and stuff had for making tiel toys (that they never cared for because wood pieces and long bagel tubes they did not care for)... he is working back and forth between the restrung toy and the one I put together right now... :tantrum:
:tantrum: I will be lucky if both of them last till dark tomorrow the way he is going.. :swearing:

I tried looking at toys on line.. to get some ideas...:konk: .. but think I am just getting more confused... :pissed2:

I need advise on toys for this green feathered beaver.... :pullhair:

Help PLEASE...

I ordered four of these and they are awesome and well worth the price! They are called Monster toys and come in different sizes. These would definitely give Shamrock something to think about, lol Mike is the manufacturer and, if you tell him, Gini sent ya, he might do something nice for you:whistle:

Suz, I would get some natural tree branches and pinecones. It will take longer for him to destroy them. And they are FREE!!! :yahoo:

Suz...hun...they ARE part beaver...trust me. my Aexandrine parrot goes through toys like no other...I swear he is half macaw half beaver!

Just plain wooden blocks strung up...nothing fancy...will do. The easier to destroy the better...they love to chew and hard. Raj can take a macaw sized toy and chew it into splinters in about a week, where as Smiles takes him two or longer.

To save money...make your own toys. As I said...blocks or branches of wood strung together and keep replacing them.

I have a plan and at least a starting point now...:hifive:

As soon as I get everyone settled with breakfast and water changes here.. can see will be going out in yard with the large pruning saw.. and cuttin large branchs or small trees down of several kinds of woods that are bird safe on property..:excited:... :swearing:

Been harvesting most of the wood for perchs.. and will now be doing so for the green feathered beaver...

The woods I plan on cutting today... hickory, dogwood, sweet gum, sassafrass and cutting some grapevine also to clean and weave into wreaths...
so looks like this afternoon will be devoted to soaking, scrubbing wood and put what will fit in oven to dry.... and maybe a wreath or two....

I also have a couple of the boards of the untreated lumber left over from building the orchid house/area last winter so will be drilling, cutting and soaking them, with GSE also.. before baking to dry..
and just might even getting out my vitta critter dyes and doing some dyeing also...:shhh:
And tomorrow more cutting into toys size pieces and drilling... yipee

I have over 20 feet of bird safe sasil.. and ordered misc bag of scrap different sizes of veggie leather pieces recently (for some unknow reason)... so looks like I just might be OK for a bit here.. with all the toys ideas people have provided....:woohoo:

Thank you all... :hugs:
I just got so overwhelmed with the wood distruction.. I did not know where to start..

Will post pics.. as toys are made.. ;)
then let you know how long each manages to last in Shamrocks cage...:drama:

Suz, you could have a nice little business selling toys made from natural tree branches.
