what is it about that part of the world and their violent birds? Imagine being chased down, on foot, by a flock of parrots? 8 pound parrots!!! Always wanted to live in New Zealand.........

:mwahaha: Jim if you like Kakapos, you will love Kea Parrots! They're the ones who destroy cars!

I have seen Kakapos, I am pretty sure it was in Rotorua in some tourist attraction. I can't remember which one. They had a whole section of endangered birds including Kiwis.

Douglas Adams' book "Last Chance to See" has a chapter on kakapos. A kakapo tracker reluctantly went out and caught one for Douglas to look at, and the book includes a picture of the bird gnawing on the tracker's finger.
