Maxi won!

Well I am posting here first, then BB and hopefully telling you before you read it on Birdchannel.com. Maxi won the cage contest! I replied to the email with
" Oh Wow, when the lovebirds were over one thousand votes ahead we all gave up"

The reply: Unfortunately, some people find ways to cheat so we validate the votes. We are trying to stop it from happening up front so people like you guys don’t get disappointed in the site, but it’s almost impossible!

Looks like the lovies were cheating. I suspected it all along but did not know if they would catch it.

So now what to do. Maxi will get the cage donated by Kathie. But what to do with the other. You all are responsible for this win. Do you mind terribly if we keep the cage won for another rescue? We have more and more birds coming in all the time. I am thinking the OW amazon that just came in might really enjoy the cage you all won for Max.

The cage Kathie donated is being put together this weekend and you will all get pictures. I can't wait!

congrats..... it's refreshing to see that honesty does pay off every here and there....

IMO, maxi and your rescue won the cage.... therefore it's yours.... and i don't even have the slightest doubt that it'll be put to better use than anywhere else

Yes, I think you should keep the cage for your work. Lord knows your group can use it. How's Maxi doing, by the way? Please let us know.

Maxi is doing just fine. She is full of it and follows me back and forth on her cage just squeaking to be picked up. She has a small sore she picked open while I was gone but it seems to be healing now.

While I was gone she made her first flight. She even controlled her landing and went where she wanted to go. She landed right in front of a volunteer and then shoved her head into the volunteers hand. The volunteer was shocked.
Maxi just was not getting enough scritches and decided to seek out some LOL.
She has also gained weight and filled out nicely. She came in at 217 and now weighs out at 247. This on a Harrison's Mash diet.

By the way, what ever happened to the Too you were trying to capture a few months ago? I was so worried about it I was ready to come help you.

Yay for Maxi!!!! I just knew this would happen, because it was so obvious the lovebirds were cheating (the owners)! Absolutely you should keep the new cage for another rescue, that OW sounds like he needs a good home too! I am thrilled it worked out this way!!! :cheer: :yahoo: :spinning:

WOW!!! :yahoo: This is great news-Max deserved to win-especially with all of us rooting for her!! I voted plenty of times, I even registered on the site so I could keep an eye on what was happening but I dropped the ball last week, when the lovebirds were so far ahead:swearing: and Kathie had come through with a new cage for her! :heartbeat: Max is quite the charmer, I'll have to come by and see her in her new cage! and get a look at the new OW also....

Then that is what we will do. The OW is in a nice cage , but a cage suited for a conure not an amazon. He can't even flap in it and has just one perch.

Pictures tonight of the cage and the OW. I also have to send pictures of the cockatiels we got in last week. They look even worse then when we first got them because they bathed in the red palm oil pasta! I came in and all three were greasy and orange! I keep spraying them but that grease is hard to get off LOL

BTW the little tiel with kidney failure has made a remarkable turn around. Right now she does not look sick at all. She even started coming out of her cage again.
