Went to the breeders and picked up the Quakers today. They are gorgeous. Complete trouble makers. It's like having 2 naughty toddlers around. So here are Pele and Xuxa my 4month old Blue Quakes.

Mary, they are adorable!! Now I want a blue Quaker! Hmmmm..........what is cheaper, a RT to Adelaide to steal yours or buy one!

Love the names, you're like me with the ethnic names-Xuxa was on MY list for a future South American bird!!

You could always get one from my breeder. He's happy to freight and they're all similar friendliness to my pair. DNA cert. too.

They are so sweet and pretty!! I wish Quakers weren't illegal in California:( but I understand why. We already have sooo many feral parrot flocks established in southern California and I shudder to think what a flock of quakers could do in some of our huge palms but I want one!!:excited: There should be a permit for them like there are for many other "invasive" species. After all, I can get a permit to keep piranha, why not Quaker parakeets?

Yep that's how it's pronounced. I heard the name years ago when Xuxa the Brazilian tv presenter was dating Pele thee soccer player and thought then that with the right pair of South American parrots I would one day use the names.

I have one irn who I've had for awhile now and a mallee ringneck (Australian native) coming tomorrow (one of my Dads birds), so that covers the ringnecks and I've put my order in to my breeder for an Ekkie boy. I'm a step ahead.:teaser:
