Let's get our new eco-tourism forum off to a good start with this special contest with a unique twist! Most of you will have at least one pampered parrot at home who is well loved and cared for. This contest will take you on a journey to learn about his wild cousins. Parrots are never truly domesticated in the way that dogs and cats are. They are only a couple generations removed from their wild cousins, some of you with older parrots may actually have one who was wild caught and imported into your country before this practice was banned. Let's learn more about your parrot's wild cousins and have fun doing it!

1. Where does your parrot originally come from (be as specific as possible-country, habitat, region)?

2. Provide the link to ONE educational website specifically about your parrot species. No forums or message boards, research projects are preferred, Wikipedia will be accpeted but less points. You will find the answers to the questions below in the website.

3. What do your parrot's wild cousins eat?

4. What are the biggest dangers your parrot's wild cousins face?

5. What can you do at home to provide your parrot with some element similar to what his wild cousins live with everyday? (food, toys, etc?)

TIE BREAKER--provide photo of answer to #5!

RULES:

Only registered members of Feathered and Free may enter.

You may enter once per species of parrot you own.

You must enter privately, otherwise it isn't fair to the first person to enter each species because they have done the homework. So to enter, you must copy these questions onto the entry form here, answer them and provide the photo.

Contest Entry Form (http://www.birdloversuncaged.com/forum/sendmessage.php)

Entries close 11 December.

All entries will be copied onto a thread with a voting poll attached under my name so they will be anonymous. Winner will be determined by a vote. Do a good job and you will get more votes!

This is a "just for fun" contest, no prizes but you will be surprised how much you learn!

At the end of the contest, everyone is a winner because we will transfer all the entries to the species boards so we can all learn more about our companion parrot's wild cousins and share ideas on how to enrich their lives!

If you have any questions on how the contest works, post them here but please don't post your entries here, use the Entry Form above. If anyone accidentally posts an entry here, we will transfer it to the Admin section until it is time to post the voting poll. Enter as many times as you like but only once per species.
