Talking My Alexandrine Parakeet, ELF

ELF is just under a year of age, and is such a delightful parrot. Here are some random photos I've taken of him recently.

When I look at these photos I can see my baby growing up!

So, when we arrived home from our vaca, we noted that the feathers in front of ELF's neck are looking like a more pronounced ring. I feel pretty confident that he is a boy as we've thought. (Just in case though, I've called him Elfella on occasion). lol
Here are some new pics of ELF. I believe he's beginning to go through his first moult, which is a bit different from the other birds (no visible pins and Alexandrines appear to moult once a year from what I'm hearing from other owners).

I also think you can see how his head and beak have grown since we got him at 11 weeks. You can see his baby pic below in my siggy.

He is a very handsome bird!
It 'may' take up to 18-24 months for full ring/colors to come in... but when they do... Wow!
Rajah, my Alex, is now 19 & he gets more vibrant with each passing year

I think females also get a very slight faint ring also but not as pronounced as the males.

Lisa your male is absolutely STUNNING!

Lissa,
Rajah is AMAZING! What a great commercial too - he's a famous Alex! I hope you'll share more of him with us! I just love these guys. Their personalities are like no other parrot I've met.

HAHAHA Rajah is actually the only bird I've ever met who I would even consider calling 'easy-care' he eats almost everything, is independent when need be, and doesn't bite unless you put your finger through his cage bars - if you open the door & pet him, that's cool though... Go figure!
He is a love, truly.

Simon (M2) is center stage bird, me me me ...
Indi (G2) is a wee bit unhinged but means no harm...
Patrick..well he's got his demons & we go slow...

Rajah is just sweet, POLITE!! & all around good bird to live with. He will 'give' you his fave toy when he wants you pick him up.

He is usually only cranky during a molt - if I resembled a green porcupine I'd be cranky too...
